This Is The Best Heated Water Hose For Long-Term Use

What Is The Best Heated Water Hose For RV Campers, Barns & Livestock?

How do you prevent water hoses from freezing?

By using an insulated and electrically heated water hose that regulates the heat throughout the hose and keeps the water warm enough to where it won’t freeze and crack.

These types of hoses are great for many uses during the winter since there are more people than RVers that need to use hoses for clean drinking water.

Homeowners with livestock like horses in barns where it can go below freezing at night know what I am talking about.

I have written a post on the best heated water hoses in general, that you can find here.

In this post, I am going to focus on one product specifically that costs more, but is more insulated, protected, and reliable than the rest.

This is an efficient and reliable insulated hose that is great for people that are going to need a heated hose for more than just one season or year.

It’s efficient in the way that it doesn’t use a lot of electricity, and has no thermostat.

I am talking about the No Freeze Water Hose.

The No Freeze Water Hose

The No Freeze Water Hose is an American-made hose made by an American company.

The hose

The first thing you’ll notice is how thick and heavy-duty the hose is, and that’s because it’s more insulated than most.

One unique thing that adds to the thickness of the hose is the waterproof thermal foam seal around it.

Another thing that makes it different from a lot of the other similar hoses is the inside diameter.

It’s made with a 3/4″ heavy-duty drinking water hose. Most of the competitors use 1/2″ or 5/8″.

The hose has male fittings on both ends, but the company includes a female-to-female fitting so you choose which side you want to connect where.

This is great since it depends on where you have access to a GFCI power outlet.

Lengths & working temperatures

It comes in a lot of different lengths: 15, 25, 35, 50, 75, and 100 feet. It works in temperatures up to -40° C/F.

To protect and prevent the water source and the area where you connect the hose to your camper from freezing, the same company also makes pigtails that you can wrap around hydrants and connectors.

Electricity use

No Freeze Water Hose advertises it as an efficient hose that only uses 1.5A per 25′ of hose.

During a 24-hour period, it uses roughly 2.5 kWh of electricity or around $0.25 per day. This is going to depend on how much you pay per kWh.

RV parks and campgrounds usually have a higher cost per kWh than the national average.

The power cord on the hose is 7 feet long.

What I Like About This Hose

I like several things about this specific heated water hose.

  • It’s safe to use with potable/drinking water. So no matter if it’s for an RV or livestock, you can be sure that the hose is not going to make the water less safe to drink.
  • It’s made by an American company that stands behind its product and honors the warranty. We all need to buy more American-made products.
  • The inside diameter is 3/4″. It’s the thickest heated water hose I have seen on the market.
  • You can use it in temperatures down to -40° C/F. Not all of the other hoses keep working in temperatures this low.
  • It has a waterproof thermal foam seal. This helps insulate the hose further and makes it more efficient.
  • Male fittings on both ends. Includes a female-to-female adapter so you can choose which side you want to hook up where.

Why Buy The No Freeze Water Hose Instead Of The Cheaper Alternatives?

Well, it’s made by an American company and they make a high-quality product.

It’s the best-rated heated hose on the market, and quality hoses cost money.

I don’t work for the company, and the only way I earn anything from telling you this is if you buy something through one of the links above, since they’re affiliate links.

It’s just my honest opinion that this is the best heated hose out there.

I have heard a lot of complaints about other hoses that haven’t lasted more than one winter, even though they cost over a hundred dollars.

I’m the kind of person that likes to buy something that I know is going to last, instead of buying something cheap that I am going to have to buy again next year.

Frequently Asked Questions About The No Freeze Water Hose

Can I bury the hose?

No, you should not bury this hose. It should also not be submerged in water.

How do I set the hose up?

The hose sets up like any other water hose.

The only difference is that it has a plug on it that you need to plug into a GFCI outlet so the hose can start heating the water and prevent it from freezing.

When the water is connected and the hose is plugged in, you don’t need to turn it on or off or monitor anything.

Can I run the hose on 12V DC power from an RV battery for example?

No, this is not supported.

Will the hose prevent the hydrant or spigot from freezing?

No, the only thing the hose will do is prevent the water inside of the hose from freezing, when it’s plugged in and heating.

No Freeze Water Hose makes and sells pigtails that are supposed to be wrapped around spigots and ends to prevent those areas from freezing.

Measure first to know how much you need.

Can I connect two hoses together?

Yes, but No Freeze Water Hose says that you should not use extension cords.

This is what it says on its website: “Do not use extension cords or overload the outlet with multiple appliances.”

Can I leave the hose plugged in when I am not using it?

According to No Freeze Water Hose, you should always disconnect the hose when not in use.

Is there a heated sewer hose as well?

Yes, the same company sells a heated, no freeze sewer/waste hose. Click here to view it.

  1. It seems like most heated hoses have the thermostat on the end that hooks to the rv, but it needs to be outside so the temp can be at the coldest temp. Most rvs don’t hook on the outside it goes up inside a compartment so it warmer there. Where is the thermostat on yours. It seems it should be out by the water spout.
