Camping tables are always portable in some way. Some have legs that fold in, others roll up and fit in long bags.
While they’re easy to transport, regular sized camping tables still require quite a bit of storage space, and they are often pretty heavy, around 15 lbs.

For those of us who like to keep our camping gear lightweight and compact, there are some fantastic small camping tables available.
They are perfect for using as small side tables, gear tables, or even a dining table for one.
When they hear camping side table, most people think of those super common small folding plastic tables they see in every campground.
That style of camping table is a classic, and of course there’s one in this review, but there are some new camping table designs that are pretty innovative and a lot more portable.

Aluminum camping side tables are a great strong alternative to the traditional plastic ones.
The Villey roll-up table comes in three sizes: small, medium, and large.
The smallest and most compact size is a very light 2 lbs. But it’s only 12 inches tall with a 13 by 16 inch tabletop.
It’s great for setting a few drinks on. It’s only 20 inches long and 8 inches wide when rolled up and stored in its drawstring storage bag.
The medium size (click to view on Amazon) is 2.6 lbs, stands 18 inches tall, and has a tabletop that’s 16 by 19 inches.
It’s a little big bigger to hold drinks plus snacks and maybe a book or two. When folded, it’s only 24 inches long and 8 inches wide.
The large size (click to view on Amazon)) weighs 4 lbs, stands 18 inches tall, and has a tabletop that’s 20 by 24 inches.
When rolled up and placed in the storage bag, it’s 29 inches long and 8 inches wide.
All sizes come in green, gold, or blue table top colors.

The smallest size is the lightest and most portable, so that’s the one I’m going to focus on in this review.
It has a weight capacity of 66 lbs, which is very high for a compact camping table.
The small storage size makes it perfect for bringing on any kind of picnic or even certain backpacking trips. It easily fits in a backpack or tote.
Both the frame and the roll up tabletop are made with high-quality aluminum that’s weather and heatproof. You can put a camp stove on it safely.
The feet are made with anti-slip rubber that gives the table more grip and a wider base to stand on.

2. Luxjet Telescopic Table/Stool
The Luxjet is a unique take on a portable table. Made of plastic, this durable telescopic table is super compact, and very easy to set up.
The tabletop is an oval shape that’s about 27 inches long and 15 inches wide. It folds in half and stores the round telescopic base inside.
The base comprises rings with a “fish scale” structure. They’re wavy instead of straight. It gives each piece a stronger hold, which increases the weight capacity.
Because of the design, the telescopic camping table can be any height between 2.5 and 18.2 inches.
It’s extremely adjustable and easy to use. Just turn the base to unlock the rings, raise or lower it, then turn it again to lock it into place.
Directly over the base, the weight capacity is a very high 396 lbs. That’s why this compact camping table can also be used as a stool.
But, since the table is oval shaped with no supports, the weight capacity is really low at the edges, just 3.3 lbs.
If you use the Luxjet telescopic table as a stool, remove the tabletop so it doesn’t break.

Even though this portable camping table is small, it’s still pretty heavy, about 4 lbs.
The weight is because of the thick plastic and the heavy rings that make up the legs.
When you want to put it away, just collapse the base and unlock it from the tabletop by twisting it.
You place the base on the left or the right side of the tabletop so it can fold in half and store the base inside.
It’s 13.5 inches long and 15 inches wide when folded up.
The Luxjet Telescopic Table/Stool is a like no other compact camping table.
I like that it’s very adjustable, easy to set up, and made with durable plastic.
The tabletop isn’t super heavy duty or stable, but if you find a level spot for it, this camp table works great.

3. Preferred Nation Folding Side Table
A company called Preferred Nation makes this small round folding camp table made of thick cloth and metal.
The frame is metal while the tabletop and the shelf underneath is a polyester cloth.
While cloth might not seem like the best material for a tabletop, it’s actually a great way to keep the weight down.
It can also pack down to a really small size.
There are four deep mesh cup holders, like the kind you find on camping chairs, that will hold your drinks securely.
The table is 5 lbs, which is pretty heave compared to some of the other options in this review.
But it measures 28 inches in diameter and stands 24 inches tall, which is a pretty good size for the weight.
When it’s time to pack it down, it goes into an included carrying bag for easy transport and storage while protecting the camping table.

The Preferred Nation Folding Side Table has some great features that include portability and cup holders.
It’s a camp side table that can be brought to the beach, park, or campsite to hold drinks and other items so you don’t have to put them on the ground.
The wide feet will sit steadily on sand, gravel, and uneven ground. The polyester and metal will hold up fine against water and dirt.
It’s not the most heavy duty side table in this post, but it’s lightweight, portable, and perfect for drinks and snacks.

4. RedSwing Folding Camping Table
We’ve all seen this classic aluminum folding table in campgrounds. It’s probably the type of folding camping table that’s been around the longest.
While the full size options aren’t the most portable, RedSwing makes a small compact version that’s perfect for packing light.
There are three size option for this model. They range from compact side tables to larger camping tables for dining and cooking.
Since this is a review of the best compact camping tables, I’m going to talk about the smallest option.
When set up, this portable aluminum table is 23.6 inches long and 15.7 inches wide. It has two height adjustments, 10.2 inches and 19 inches tall.
Like most classic folding camping tables, the RedSwing is put away by folding the legs inward, then folding the tabletop in half to create a suitcase.
There’s even a handle on top and latches that secure the pieces together.

Because it’s a bi-fold table, it’s fantastic for fast set up, but it has a pretty large storage size that’s 12 inches long, 15.7 inches wide, and 2.6 inches deep.
The entire table is made of aluminum, so it’s heat and weatherproof, and has a sturdy 70 lbs weight capacity, but it weights a pretty hefty 5 lbs.
I say 5 lbs is a lot because this is a review about ultra portable tables, but 5 lbs is still not very heavy.
A gallon of milk weights 8 lbs, so it’s even lighter than that.
Because of the flat tabletop and the rectangular shape, this compact camping table is perfect to use as a portable desk, dining table for one, or a really nice side table.
The RedSwing Folding Camping Table is the mini version of a truly classic camping table, and it has a lot of great qualities.
It’s heatproof, weatherproof, quick to set up. The tabletop is large, and it has a high weight capacity.

One of the most common camping side tables you are going to see sitting outside of RVs and trailers is the Camco Adirondack folding side table.
It’s made with a plastic resin that’s resistant to everything.
Cracks, peeling, rot, corrosion, UV rays, water, you name it this camping side table can hold its own in any outdoor setting.
There are two sizes available, the regular size shown above that is 15 inches tall, and has a tabletop that’s 12 by 14 inches.
The large size is 19.5 inches tall with a tabletop that’s 18 by 15 inches.
There are a few color options to fit any style and each size can hold up to 30 lbs.
The regular version is the lightest in this section of the review, weighing only 2.2 lbs.

It folds into a flat rectangle that is 22 inches long, 12 inches wide, and 2.2 inches thick.
There are a few things that make the Camco Adirondack Outdoor Folding Side Table perfect for campers and RVers.
It’s super durable, lightweight, almost instant to set up.
These camp tables are also the perfect height to set next to a camping chair to hold snacks, drinks, and other items like books or your phone.
The only downsides are it can’t take very much weight, it won’t stand stable on unlevel ground, and it will blow over if it gets windy since it’s so lightweight.

6. iClimb Ultralight Mini Table
The iClimb ultralight mini table is the smallest camping table in this review when set up and when packed into its storage bag.
This compact camping table is a lot more like the tables you eat breakfast in bed with than a tall side table.
It has very short legs and stands only 5 inches tall.
There are two size options, both are only 5 inches tall, but the tabletop sizes are different.
The large size is 22 inches long and 16 inches wide, it weight 2.4 lbs.
The small size is 16 inches long and 11 inches wide and weighs only 1.5 lbs.
1.5 lbs is really light for a camping table. It’s even lighter than the small Villey table in the beginning of this review.
Sure, it doesn’t have a lot of table space and it’s short, but when rolled up, it’s only 17 inches long and 3 inches tall.
That’s small enough to put in a backpack, so you can take it anywhere.
There are 4 color options; black, blue, wood brown, and aluminum silver.

This is a roll-up table made with aluminum slats and metal legs. It’s weather and heat resistant, so you can put a camp stove on it.
To put away, just release the support bars, fold in the legs, and roll it up. It’s just as simple when setting it up as well.
Since it stands so low to the ground, it’s actually really stable.
The weight capacity is around 66 lbs. This isn’t a chair or step stool, but it’s a very strong table.
The iClimb Ultralight Mini Table may not be tall, but it has a good sized tabletop and is extremely lightweight and portable.
It’s perfect for picnics, hiking, camping, the beach, and even to use as a small dining table in a car.

Compact camping tables have a lot of uses, and they’re a great addition to any kind of camping set up.
Whether you’re an RVer with lots of storage space, or tent camping out of a car, a small side table always comes in handy.
There are two main kinds of small camping tables in this review.
Those that fold in half and are better for RVers and those that can collapse down to a very compact size and are perfect for campers with limited space or backpackers.

Best For RVers – Camco Adirondack Outdoor Folding Side Table
This style of table is the most popular for RVers since they are perfect for holding small items like drinks, snacks, or books.
The Camco Adirondack is lightweight, super durable, and a great choice.
Not only is this type perfect for having next to camping chairs, they are also extremely easy to set up and take down.
Just pull it out of storage and pop it open. It’s a fast way to get your camping gear and drinks off the ground.
Most Portable – iClimb Ultralight Mini Table
The iClimb ultralight mini table is by far the most portable option in this review.
It barely has any legs, but the durable aluminum roll up tabletop, super small packed size, and 1.5 lbs weight make up for it.
So long as you are ok with being close to the ground, this tiny table can be used for pretty much anything. Cooking, eating, games, and even as a small desk.
If you want a table you can take anywhere, the iClimb ultralight is a fantastic choice.
Coolest Design – Luxjet Telescopic Table/Stool
Who knew a telescopic table could be so strong?
The Luxjet has the most unique look and innovative design in this review.
It’s a little heavy when compared to some of the other options, but it’s so easy to set up and folds down to a very small and portable size.
The tabletop is actually pretty big as well. It’s not very wide, but the length is enough you could use it as a dinner table for two.
The only downside for camping is that the round base can make it difficult to stabilize the table. You need a good flat surface for it to be stable.
