The Outbright Memory Foam Pillow
One thing I never really thought about until I started camping and backpacking, is what do people use for pillows.
If you are a tent camper you don’t usually have a lot of space and regular pillows can take up a lot of room.

That’s what a collapsible camping/backpacking pillow is for. It’s a small foam or inflatable pillow you can use while traveling.
If you are a full-time RVer, you don’t have a ton of space for extra pillows. That’s where something like the Outbright Memory Foam Camping/Backpacking Pillow comes in handy.
It has its own storage bag, it packs down to a small size, and weights just a bit more than a pound.
In this review, I’m going to outline all the features of this camping pillow as well as give my full review from the point of view of a full-time camper.

Outbright Memory Foam Collapsible Camping Pillow
The main thing you need to know about the Outbright Memory Foam backpacking/camping pillow is it’s going to be much larger and take up more space than the regular inflatable pillows backpackers normally use.
This is a fantastic option if you need a good, soft pillow to sleep on and you are willing to sacrifice a little space and weight when backpacking.
Otherwise, this is a great small pillow for any kind of camper whether it’s a tent, car, van, or an RV.

Let’s start with the carry case.
The case made of a thin but sturdy woven fabric much like what reusable grocery bags are made of. With the memory foam pillow inside the case is 12 inches long and 6 inches wide.
There is a zippered opening on the top and two handles on the side you can use to carry or clip it to the outside of your backpack.
It’s recommended to keep the memory foam camping pillow in the bag when transporting it to help keep the pillowcase clean.
The pillowcase is 40% bamboo and 60% polyester. That means it’s soft and cool from the bamboo, but sturdy and machine washable because of the polyester.
The fabric is thick and the pillowcase can be unzipped and removed from the memory foam pillow part for washing.
It’s recommended to wash the pillowcase before using the portable pillow when you first get it.
The pillowcase is machine washable but the foam is not. Also, only air dry the pillowcase to help it keep its softness.

Finally, the pillow itself. It’s stuffed with different sized chunks of polyurethane foam (memory foam).
Everything is held together by a thin bag that can be opened via the zipper on the side.
One of the nice things about the Outbright Memory Foam pillow is it’s made to open easily so you can remove more foam if you like a thinner pillow.
The pillow with the pillowcase is around 15 inches long, 12 inches wide, and when fully decompressed around 6 inches thick.
The pillow and the case weigh 17 ounces. That’s a little more than a pound.
That’s quite a bit heavier than standard backpacking pillows but it’s much softer and is a better option if you’re the kind of person who needs a soft pillow in order to sleep.
My Review Of The Outbright Memory Foam Collapsible Camping Pillow
My initial thoughts on Outbright Memory Foam Pillow when I first pulled it out of the carry case was that it was pretty thin for a pillow.
But after a few hours of being able to decompress from being in an air-tight plastic bag, I was happy to see that it became much more thick and soft.
The outer pillowcase is very soft and feels really nice to the touch.
I followed the instructions and washed the pillowcase before fully testing it and the case was still soft even after washing and letting it air dry.

The only way to truly test a pillow is to use it. After a few nights of trying it out, I’m happy to say that it’s actually very comfy.
I like my pillows to be thicker than most so I just folded it in half and it was perfect.
Turns out you don’t really need a huge pillow when sleeping at night. I thought it would maybe be a little too small but it was just fine.
For car camping it’s perfect. You don’t have a ton of space for bedding when you’re in a small vehicle and being able to save where you can is important.
For RV living it’s great because you can have some extra pillows for guests and they aren’t taking up hardly any storage space.
The quality is impressive as well.
One thing you need to look for with memory foam products is fiberglass.
Fiberglass is often used in memory foam mattresses as a fire retardant but you don’t want that stuff in a pillow you are putting your head on.
The Outbright Memory Foam pillow does not have any fiberglass in it at all and the small foam chunks make the pillow soft and cool.

The collapsible pillow is also easy to pack away which is a huge bonus because I don’t want to spend a ton of time trying to roll it up just right so it will fit in the carry case.
All-in-all I think the Outbright Memory Foam Pillow is a great pillow for campers, RVer, and travelers in general.
I definitely plan on bringing this on planes and using it as a backup when people come camping or just as a nice pillow to use when napping during the day.
