A Word About Honesty And Integrity

Intro

A lot of the articles on The Camping Nerd are product reviews. Most of the time, the product has been sent to us without us having to pay for it.

Why do companies do this? To get exposure and to to get the word out about their products.

What do we get out of it? We get a free product that leads to more fresh content on the site, and make a small percentage when somebody purchases a product via our links (learn more here).

Over time our reviews show up in Google results, on social media, in forums, other websites, and in related articles on this site.

We believe that leads to better brand awareness over time, and that a company has more to gain from that than only doing display ads.

Can I trust your reviews?

Yes, you can trust that we are honest in product reviews. Both about what we like and don’t like.

With that said, you should always seek other sources to make an informed purchase decision.

Every reviewer on the internet doesn’t agree on every pro and con. Always consider if something good or bad applies to your needs or not.

With thousands of visitors reading our reviews every day, we believe that we have a responsibility to not lead anyone astray.

Are we saying that just to get you to like us? Well, that’s up to you to decide.

Our opinions can’t be bought, and we’re proud of that fact.

Are any of your articles sponsored?

If a paid article only talks about the positives about a product, it will sound and look like a paid ad.

Companies do not send us money, but we receive products for free.

We frequently receive emails from companies that want to pay for a sponsored article that says this and that, but we always decline.

We don’t do sponsored articles or display ads.

Do you say good things about a product just to get more free products?

No, we don’t.

One of the biggest brands in this industry has actually decided to not send us any more products because we listed “too many” dislikes about one of their products.

In the short term that’s not good for our business since it means less new content, but in the long term we hope it will show that we’re serious about our integrity.

Why do not all reviews link to this page?

If a review does not link to this page, it’s a product we have paid for with our own money. The company that makes the product is not made aware of the review.

If you have any questions about any of this, please reach out to us via the contact page.
