6 Best Roll-Up Camping Tables For Dining & All-Around Use

Why Get A Roll-Up Camping Table?

Portability is one of the most important aspects of camping furniture and gear.

To camp comfortably, you need a place to cook, eat, and hang out, but you need everything you bring to be easy to transport and set up.

Even RVers who bring an entire home with them like to have outdoor camp furniture so they can spend some quality time outside.

Camping tables are one of the most basic pieces of camping furniture every outdoor lover needs.

There are lots of different camping tables, some are very specific. Like camp kitchen tables and small side tables.

In this review, I’m focusing on the camping table everyone needs, the classic square or rectangle that can be used for dining, cooking, and just hanging out around.

Back in the day, tables with legs that could fold underneath, like this timeless classic by Lifetime (click to view on Amazon), was one of the few options out there.

If you have a big enough storage area, those types of camping tables are great, but the more space and weight you can save on the better.

Today, roll-up, also called roll-top, camping tables are the new thing. This type of camping table uses metal or wooden slats that roll out to make a large and strong table top.

Because the slats roll up, you can have a large camping table that fits in a bag.

These tables are often more lightweight than the classic folding leg table and they aren’t that hard to set up.

Below are my top 6 roll-up camping tables I think are perfect for every kind of camper.

Each option sits at least 4 people, and in most cases, there are also larger options available. Hopefully, this review helps you find the best camping table for your needs and camping style.

Coleman Outdoor Compact Folding Table, Sturdy Aluminum Camping Table...

Check Price at Amazon

Coleman makes this neat little camping table that can be used for lots of things around the campground, including use as a picnic or dining table.

Made with a steel frame and aluminum, it’s a roll-up table that can take a beating and last a long time.

The tabletop rolls out and sits on top of the steel frame. It all snaps together when set up correctly.

Measuring 27.6 by 27.6 by 27.6 it’s big enough to seat four people.

It has a high weight capacity, for its size, of 100 pounds. That means it can take the weight of a camp stove or gas grill and the aluminum top is heat resistant.

Although the camping table feels pretty sturdy, I wish the feet were bigger. I think that would’ve made it feel even sturdier and secure on the ground.

Taking down the table is easy with its folding frame and roll up tabletop. The included carrying bag will keep it compact and secure during transport.

Everything together weighs 9 pounds and when packed away, it’s about the size of a standard camping chair.

I most like the Coleman Outdoor Compact Camping Table for its looks and roll up design.

It’s advertised as being big enough to seat four people and while it can do that, it’s pushing it.

I see it more like a comfortable table for two, a gear table, or one that can be used next to your kitchen station.

Note the height is not adjustable. Make sure you compare the height of the camping table to the height of your camping chairs to make sure they will fit.

PROS

  • Lightweight
  • Square Top Rolls Up Small
  • Aluminum Tabletop
  • Quick Set Up
  • Regular Table Height

CONS

  • Non-Adjustable Height
  • Small Feet
  • Storage Bag Isn’t Compartmentalized
  • Supports Block Leg Space

2. Timber Ridge Roll-Up Camp Table

TIMBER RIDGE Folding Camping Table Adjustable Height, 4-6 Person...

Check Price at Amazon

The Timber Ridge roll-top camping table uses my design for dining and general use.

It’s very easy to set up, and the aluminum table top slats sit close together, so there’s no large gaps.

There’s no leg supports that get in the way when you’re seated next to it either. So it can comfortably fit 4 – 6 people.

When set up, the Timber Ridge has a tabletop that’s 42.5 inches long and 28 inches wide.

The height is 25 inches with adjustable feet that can extend up to 2 inches and make the total height 27 inches.

Adjustable feet are a rare find on roll top camping tables like this. So it’s a nice addition and great for uneven ground.

When rolled up and put in the storage bag, the table is 41 inches long, 9.5 inches wide and 5 inches tall.

The total weight is only 12.5 lbs.

Even though this is a long table, the weight capacity is still pretty high at 110 lbs.

Being able to take that much weight with no annoying center leg supports is impressive, and one of the main reasons I like this style of folding camping table so much.

To set up, just take out the legs and unfold them. Then take out the roll of aluminum slats and unroll them on the top of the frame.

A slat folds down on both ends to secure it into place.

The Timber Ridge Roll-Up Camp Table is a fantastic option for every kind of camper.

It’s big enough to be used as a family dining table, or it’s a great prep/cooking station. It’s even heavy duty enough to hold a grill or camp stove.

PROS

  • Lightweight For Size
  • Aluminum Tabletop
  • Quick Set Up
  • Adjustable Feet
  • Lots of Leg Room (No Blocking Leg Supports)

CONS

  • Small Feet
  • Low Standing Height

3. KingCamp Roll Up Camp Table

KingCamp Stable Aluminum Folding Portable Table for Outdoor Picnic,...

King Camp makes a few types of roll-top camping tables. This is the lightweight aluminum version. There’s a heavier bamboo version later on in this review.

The frame is made of steel, and the tabletop is aluminum alloy slats with a fine grind finish and anode oxidation treatment.

It’s a scratch and rust-resistant material, so it’s perfect for the outdoors.

Normally, the aluminum slats roll out and sit on top of a frame. King Camp has designed this camp table a little differently.

The table top roll out and sits inside the frame of the table. So the long edges are solid metal tubing.

It’s a cool design that feels really solid when it’s all set up.

The table measures 42 inches long, 28 inches wide and 28 inches tall when set up.

It’s 43 inches long, 9 inches wide, and 4 inches tall when in the storage bag.

It weighs 15 pounds. It’s not the lightest camping table in the review, but it’s not bad for its size and design.

See Also: 6 Best Oversized Camping Moon Chairs For RV Campers

It can hold up to 176 pounds and feels incredibly stable because of its big legs and reinforced frame.

A spring buckle secures the tabletop in place after it has been rolled onto the frame. When it’s time to pack down, the entire table fits in the included storage bag.

There are some leg supports that can get in the way of your legs if there are 4 or more people seated.

They aren’t as bad as some of the other camping tables in this review, but they might get in the way sometimes.

I like the KingCamp Roll-Up Camp Table for its stability and high-quality feel.

It’s big enough to be used as a dining table for a family as long as you don’t have huge chairs, or as a heavy duty gear table.

I only wish is that there were a few more sizes to choose from.

PROS

  • Stable
  • Can Seat Up To 6
  • Aluminum Tabletop
  • Good Leg Room
  • Most Heavy Duty Legs In Review

CONS

  • Only One Size Option
  • Hard To Get Back Into Included Bag
  • No Height Adjustment

4. Ever Advanced Roll-Up Table

EVER ADVANCED Camping Table, Fold up Lightweight, 4-6 Person Portable...

Check Price at Amazon

The Ever Advanced camping table uses a design that gives you a big table top and good height, while still being fairly lightweight, and it packs down to a very small size.

When set up, it measures almost 46 inches long, 29 inches wide, and 29 inches tall.

It’s the biggest camping table in this review, and also the heaviest, weighing 18 lbs.

The most impressive thing is the packed size. When rolled up and stowed, the Ever Advanced table is only 28 inches long and 8 inches wide and tall.

It has the same packed length as the smallest camping table in this review.

If you have storage space issues, but you still want a big camping table, this is the best option.

See Also: Best Portable Power Station/Solar Generator For Camping

You have to give up a few conveniences to get that small storage size though.

First, the legs are tiny, and there are 6 required to support the long length.

There are also some really long cross supports between each leg that extend halfway down.

There’s no way to fit a chair under this table, so it’s not as comfortable to use for dining.

The max weight capacity is still high at 110 lbs, so it’s a great option to use as a gear or cooking camp table.

When you first look at the Ever Advanced Roll-Up Table, you wonder how it could be so popular because of the obnoxious leg supports.

But the huge draw to this roll-up camping table is the small storage size.

It can be hard to find a good storage spot for the long bags most roll-top camp tables are packed in. I know I’ve struggled with it a few times when car camping.

Don’t count out this table just because of the design, it’s a fantastic choice for those with limited storage space.

PROS

  • Stable
  • Large Table Top
  • Aluminum Top
  • Steel Base
  • Tall
  • Roll Up to Very Small Size

CONS

  • Only One Size Option
  • No Height Adjustment
  • Zero Leg Room
  • 6 Legs
  • Heavy

5. Villey Portable Camping Table

VILLEY Portable Camping Table with Adjustable Legs, Lightweight...

Check Price at Amazon

Adjustable legs, lightweight, good table top size, the Villey portable camping table has a lot to offer.

It’s a smaller camping table that’s going to be best for 2 people, but it will work for 4 people in a pinch.

Measuring 35 inches long and 20 inches wide, with an adjustable height that can go from 17 to 25 inches.

The low height option is actually a pretty good idea. Not all campers use camping chairs, and the low height makes it more usable if you are sitting on logs or big rocks.

It’s also a good height for picnics and beaches.

The aluminum roll-top uses long slats that make up the length of the table. It’s an easier design to set up, but it also means the storage bag will need to be longer.

When rolled up and put away, the Villey camp tables is 36 inches long, 7 inches wide, and 5 inches tall.

It weighs 9 lbs, which is a huge plus if you have a lot of gear to carry. The Villey and the Coleman camping tables are the lightest in this review.

The leg support system is at the ends of the table. So there’s lots of leg room on the sides. Two people can sit up to it comfortably for dining.

It can take up to 100 lbs of weight, which is plenty of strength to hold a gas grill or camp stove.

The Villey Portable Camping Table is a fantastic option for couples or solo campers.

It’s very lightweight, has really nice adjustable legs, and the leg supports are designed with people in mind.

PROS

  • Stable
  • Very Lightweight
  • Aluminum Top
  • Steel Base
  • Adjustable Legs
  • Good Leg Room

CONS

  • Only One Size Option
  • Best for 1-2 People

6. King Camp Bamboo Camping Table

KingCamp Bamboo Folding Table Camping Table with Large Storage Bag...

Check Price at Amazon

Most roll-up camping tables are made with aluminum table tops because it’s a lightweight, weatherproof, and durable material.

Aluminum is great, but it can make the table feel a little too light on top.

It can also bend slightly under weight and it’s just not the same as a good old-fashioned wooden table.

For those who want heavy duty and the fantastic portability of a roll-up camping table, King Camp has come up with the perfect answer.

Bamboo is an excellent wood for tabletops. Its durable, naturally water resistant, lightweight, and it gives you that classic wooden table feel.

There are a couple versions of the bamboo folding camping table. There are small side tables and different dining tables that range from 2 person to 6.

I’m going to be reviewing the standard 4-5 person camping table because it has the folding design, and it’s the most portable.

The bamboo tabletop can fold 4 times into a manageable size that’s only 44 inches long, 6.7 inches wide, and 4.7 inches tall.

When set up, it’s 39.4 inches long, 26.5 inches wide, and there are 3 height adjustments: 17.7, 20.5, and 25.6 inches.

The leg adjustments are the classic push button style.

With camping tables, it’s a better design than the sliding version because the legs are solidly in place and the table legs won’t slide down from weight.

See Also: Best 12 Volt Refrigerator Freezer For Camping & Travel

The strong wooden table top helps give the table structure, so there’s no need for large leg supports that get in the way.

It also has one of the best weight capacity in this review at 176 lbs.

There’s even an included mesh storage net that installs underneath the tabletop. It’s a great place for keeping paper plates, cups, utensils, and games.

The wooden top has a few downsides, the weight and weather resistance.

The entire table weighs 15.6 lbs, which is more than other tables of the same size, but it’s still lighter than traditional heavy plastic camping tables.

It’s really smart to make a roll-top camping table with a wooden table top. It feels more sturdy than aluminum and the surface is nicer for dining and board games.

But it’s not something you can leave out in the rain or let water stay on.

The King Camp Bamboo Camping Table is going to be a fantastic table for campers who don’t love aluminum tables, but have limited space.

If you like the style but want something bigger, there’s also a large 6 person option (click to view on Amazon).

It only folds in half, so it’s not as portable, but it’s still better than camping tables that don’t fold at all.

PROS

  • Stable
  • High Weight Capacity
  • Steel Base
  • Adjustable Legs
  • Good Leg Room
  • Fewer Gaps in Table Top
  • Multiple Size Options

CONS

  • Fairly Heavy
  • Not Weatherproof
  • Not Heat Resistant

My Recommendation

What gear or dining table is the best for you mostly depends on how many are in your group, and whether you mostly need a place to put things or to eat at.

Some of these tables have a lot of space, but almost no leg room, which can make it hard for dining and board games.

Each roll-top camping table in this review has different strengths, but I do have a favorite that’s my choice for the best overall camp dining table.

Timber Ridge Roll-Up Camp Table

TIMBER RIDGE Folding Camping Table Adjustable Height, 4-6 Person...

Check Price at Amazon

If you take tabletop size, weight, and leg room in to consideration, the Tiber Ridge is the roll-top camp table that checks all the boxes.

You can seat at least 4 people comfortably because the legs are only on the ends.

The slats are short and lay across the steel support frame. This makes them more stable and less likely to sag under weight.

Most aluminum camping tables don’t have a coating on the slats, but to make it a little nicer for using as a dining or game table, Tiber Ridge uses a nice painted finish.

Overall, it’s a fantastic camping table and my favorite style of roll-top.

What To Look For In A Roll-Up Camping Table

Leg Room

The number one problem with lightweight camping tables, especially the roll-tops, is the leg supports.

Because the top is flexible, it doesn’t offer any structure for the legs, so many designs have supports that cross between the legs to keep them in place.

Two of the camp tables in this review have supports that don’t allow you to put your legs under the table at all.

They can still be used for dining, but be ready to sit sideways or to lean over more than normal.

The leg supports don’t bother some campers, but it’s something to consider if you’re looking for a table you put your chair under.

Height

On that same note, height is another factor for the chair issue.

Camp chairs aren’t normally as tall as regular chairs, so a camping table doesn’t need to be as high as a regular table, but it’s should still be at least 25 inches.

Most camping chairs have arm rests. Make sure the roll-up table you get is tall enough for your camping chairs as well.

Portability

If you’re looking at roll-top camping tables, odds are you are trying to save on space and weight.

Most of these kinds of camp tables roll up and fit in a storage bag that’s similar to the kind used for camping chairs.

They are often as long as the frame or slats that make up the tabletop.

In this review, the table with the longest storage bag is the KingCamp Roll-Up Camp Table.

The ones with the shortest are the Coleman Outdoor Compact Camping Table, and surprisingly, the Ever Advanced Roll-Up Table, which is also the biggest table in this review.

The length can really be a problem if you are car or van camping.

Normally you can fit a long but skinny camping table in the under storage of an RV, but depending on how you pack your car, the longer length can be annoying.

Durability

Aluminum is one of the most weather resistant and durable materials out there. It’s also very lightweight and the number one choice for most roll-up tables.

For most people, and aluminum tabletop is great, but it has a less solid feel than traditional wood and even thick plastic camping tables.

There is a bamboo option in this review that has the solid tabletop feel.

It still rolls up to a small size, but it’s a little heavier than the other tables and it’s not as weatherproof.

For that reason, if you plan on leaving your camping table set up and uncovered at night, get one of the aluminum options.

Frequently Asked Questions About Folding Camping Tables

How to tie down a table while camping

Many roll-up camping tables are lightweight, which is great for transport, but it also means they can easily get blown over by the wind.

The best way to tie it down is to use good old-fashioned rope and stakes or even just large heavy rocks.

Make sure you secure the rope to a part of the frame that won’t be damaged from the pressure of the ropes.

Also, make sure the ropes are out of the way so they won’t trip any unsuspecting campers walking by.

What is the best camping table flashlight or lantern?

A good camping table flashlight or lantern needs to cast a lot of light without shining directly into the eyes of the campers sitting nearby.

Propane lanterns like the Coleman Northstar (click to view on Amazon) have been a common sight in campgrounds for years, but they require having small 1lb propane tanks on hand and you have to change out certain parts every year.

They are also a fire hazard and need to be monitored at all times when in use.

LED table flashlights and lanterns have come a long way and are becoming the more popular choice among campers.

They are safer, easier to maintain, and less expensive than propane ones.

When choosing a lantern specifically to place on a table, make sure you get one that casts the light downwards.

Many are made to be hung up and when placed on tables, they can be uncomfortable for your eyes.

Some of the best camping table flashlights/lanterns include the Light It! By Fulcrum, Coleman LED Lantern, and the Blazin Fireball LED Lantern.

What is the width of a standard 8 foot camping table?

Usually, 8 foot camping tables are around 24-30 inches in width.

How wide is a standard table in a camp trailer?

Most camp trailer tables, whether they are booth style or have regular chairs, are around 28-30 inches wide to seat around 4 people comfortably.
