Port O’Connor RV Park Info
Port O’Connor is a small town in southern Texas about two hours south of San Antonio and an hour north of Corpus Christi.
It’s a fantastic place to spend the winter in an RV since it has mild winter temperatures and it’s right on the coast and Matagorda Bay.
There are tons of fishing opportunities, a nice sandy beach, and the town is built for riding bikes, golf carts, and walking.

While there are not many stores or businesses, there are a few excellent restaurants, a General Dollar, and a gas station that has a small grocery store inside.
It has a much more laid back feel than larger popular winter RV destinations like Corpus Christi.
If you want to get away from the crowds but still be on the Texas coast, Port O’Connor is the place to go.
Port O’Connor RV park is one of many RV parks in town. One of the things that makes it so great is its central location.
It’s right by the Dollar General, and only a mile from the gas station that’s also a small grocery store. If you want to be able to walk to get your food this is the perfect place to stay.
The beach is only a 1.5 mile walk down a calm road that’s also good for riding bikes.

There’s a nice swimming pool with a hot tub, a nice laundry room with reasonably priced washing machines and dryers, a rally room with a full kitchen and TV, men’s and women’s bathrooms with showers, and a nice grassy area to walk your dog.
The included Wifi is really good as well, especially when the park isn’t full during the winter months.
Most of the sites are large pull throughs with plenty of space for even large RVs. The back in sites are mainly reserved for the longer stay residents.
Each site has a nice grassy area and a small picnic table.

If you need propane you can refill at the Beacon 44 RV Park or swap out a propane tank at the gas station.
Port O’Connor RV Park Review
We planned on staying at the Port O’Connor RV park for two months, but we ended up staying for three.
The prices are very reasonable, the managers are super friendly and helpful, and it feels very safe in the park and the entire town.
Port O’Connor, Texas is a summer tourist town so it was pretty empty during the winter. The RV park wasn’t filled up so we had plenty of space and it was really peaceful.
The Wifi works excellent and we had good cell phone service to keep us connected the entire time.

It only got down to freezing temperatures a few nights and most of the days were sunny and warm in December and January with more stormy weather in February.
Since it’s about 20 miles to the nearest town with more services I can understand why snowbirds don’t winter in this town like they do in larger areas like Corpus Christi, but for younger travelers, it’s a fantastic place to get away from the crowds.
Of all the RV parks in Port O’Conner we think Port O’Connor RV Park is the best and we recommend staying there to anyone who wants to enjoy winter on the Texas coast in a small laid back fishing town.
