Best Folding Camping Tables 2021 (All Types Reviewed)

The Best Folding Camping Tables Right Now

Camping tables is a particular product category filled with both great and not so great products. Inside the camping table category, there are portable tables for different uses.

Some tables are made just for cooking with stoves and grills, some are whole outdoor kitchen stations with sinks. Then there are utility tables for dining and smaller end tables that have drink holders.

What they all have in common is that they fold down and store easily. They’re very portable for that reason.

Folding down a table and putting it in your RV storage compartment sure is easier than having a non-folding one that takes up a ton of space and is awkward to carry around.

Pop up camping shelters are large enough to fit camping tables and they will protect you from bugs, sun, and the wind. Check out the best ones here.

Since there are different types for different uses, we’ll split them up on today’s list.

First, we’ll take a look at camping tables that work great for outdoor kitchens and cooking. These often have a spot for a burner, stove, or grill and storage. We’ll see one with a built-in sink, and most of them have paper towel holders and hooks for cooking accessories.

Then we’ll take a look at the dining, gear tables that have more casual all-around uses at the campsite.

Lastly, I’ll review the best small side camping tables you can use outside your RV or on backpacking trips.

Hopefully, this review will help you find the best kind of camping table for your specific needs. At the end or each section, I’ll give my recommendations for the best option in each category.

1. Coleman Pack-Away Portable Camp Kitchen Table

Coleman Pack-Away Portable Kitchen

Check Price at Amazon

Coleman makes two versions of this cook table, and if you want to see the more deluxe version scroll down or use the quick-navigation on the right to get to the deluxe model.

This portable camp kitchen table is made for the campers that want to have an outdoor kitchen set up where they can cook all their meals. It has a place to put a grill or a two-burner stove like a Camp Chef or Coleman’s burners.

The spot for camp stoves measures 27.8 by 20.5 inches so if you already have a burner, make sure it’s not too big before purchasing.

Next to the stove side table is a food prep area that has a smooth easy to clean plastic tabletop. This table measures 31.5 by 21.3 inches and is placed slightly higher than the stove table, so when you have a burner on the table it will be at about the same height.

Underneath the main table, there’s a mesh shelf where you can store lighter items. On top of the table, there are four elevated hooks and a pole that goes to an additional hook where you can hang a lantern for cooking on early mornings or late evenings.

The frame is made of lightweight aluminum that is resistant to corrosion and easy to clean.

When you’re all done, the camp kitchen folds down and turns into a very compact case for easy carrying and storage. In total it weighs 14.5 pounds and its weight capacity is 300 pounds.

The Coleman Pack-Away Portable Camp Kitchen Table is a neat little outdoor kitchen that you can leave set up and use as your kitchen during a whole camping trip.

While it doesn’t have a sink like the Coleman Pack-Away Deluxe Portable Camp Kitchen, it’s a very lightweight and well-built table.

I love how the main table is the main food prep area and also what turns into the case. Not having a bag or case on the side you have to deal with while the kitchen is unfolded is a big plus.

PROS

  • Compact Design
  • Food Prep Table
  • Camping Stove Table
  • Several Hooks
  • Lantern Hook
  • Mesh Shelf
  • Aluminum Frame

CONS

  • Frame Could Be More Stable
  • Mesh Shelf Has Very Low Weight Capacity

2. Lifetime Folding Tailgate Camp Table with Grill Rack

Lifetime Folding Tailgate Camp Table with Grill Rack, White

Check Price at Amazon

I own one of these, it’s a tailgate camp table made by Lifetime with a grill rack on the side. The grill rack is made out of steel and the main table is made out of heavy duty plastic. The grill rack can hold up to 30 pounds, and the table 200 pounds.

A paper towel holder is built-in, as well as a trash bag holder that folds out from the grill rack. There are also hooks on the grill rack/stove table to hold cooking accessories. On top of the table, there are four shallow cup holders where you can put drinks.

The grill rack and the legs fold into the table which has a molded-in handle and it becomes portable and easy to carry. At 25 pounds it’s somewhat cumbersome to take long distances.

The plastic used is polyethylene and UV-protected. It’s easy to wipe off as it has a hard surface that won’t rust or corrode.

Need a gas grill to put on that grill rack? Check out the best and most portable ones here.

The entire thing measures 76.3 inches in total, 48 of those are the main cooking table length. It’s 29.2 inches high, and 24 inches deep. The legs on this specific model are not adjustable.

I like the Lifetime Folding Tailgate Camp Table with Grill Rack for a couple of reasons. The first thing I noticed is how easy it is to set up, it only takes a couple of seconds to get it done.

I also like the frills. A paper towel holder, molded-in handle, garbage bag holder, hooks, and cup holders are all built-in.

The cupholders could be slightly deeper so drinks wouldn’t get knocked over as easily, but it’s still nice to have a place on the table made for drinks.

We have used this table several times and keep it in the back of our truck and don’t have any big complaints. It’s a solid camping kitchen table that can take a beating, and that’s exactly what we need.

PROS

  • Food Prep Table
  • Stove Table
  • Accessory Hooks
  • Garbage Bag Holder
  • Paper Towel Holder
  • Molded Handle
  • Folds/Unfolds In Seconds
  • Very Easy To Clean

CONS

  • Shallow Cup Holder
  • Handle Creates Hole On One Side Of Table

3. Camco Deluxe Folding Camp Stove Table

Camco Deluxe Folding Grill Table, Great for Picnics, Tailgating, Camping, RVing and Backyards; Quick Set-up and Folds Down to Only 6 Inches Tall for Convenient Storage (57293)

Check Price at Amazon

Camco makes this deluxe folding camp stove table that is one of our top picks because of what it has to offer and its solid build. It has the most of the things we’re looking for in the best cooking camping table.

In the center is a large aluminum tabletop that measures 59 x 19 x 32 inches can hold a grill or camp stove without issues.

Two side shelves that are also aluminum are 18 x 15 inches each. There are there to hold your food, accessories, and drinks while you’re cooking at the campsite. Both side shelves have two hooks each, and one of them has a genius but simple paper towel holder.

Below the main tabletop, there is a wire shelf which is an excellent place to store dishes and pans. There is no information on the weight capacity of each part of this kitchen table, but in total it can hold up to 100 pounds.

When you’re done and ready to pack down, the tabletop and wire shelf comes off, and the rest folds down and goes into an included carrying bag that has a handle for easy transport and storage.

Altogether, the table and shelves weigh 27.5 pounds. In the storage bag, the table measures 37 x 20 x 6 inches.

The Camco Deluxe Folding Camp Stove Table is a lightweight table that I recommend for its design. I really like the main aluminum tabletop and the lower wire shelf.

I only wish the side tables were a little more sturdy. They will hold food and drinks fine, but I wouldn’t put lots of weight on them. The hooks are awesome, and the paper towel holder will keep your paper towels in place (which some of the other tables have issues with), so all-in-all, it’s a great portable camping table you can put a grill or stove on without worry.

PROS

  • Storage Bag Included
  • Accessory Hooks
  • Paper Towel Holder
  • Two Side Shelves
  • Wire Under Shelf
  • Large Aluminum Tabletop

CONS

  • Side Tables Have A Low Weight Capacity

4. GCI Outdoor Slim-Fold Camp Kitchen

GCI Outdoor Slim-Fold Camp Kitchen Portable Folding Cook Station

Check Price at Amazon

GCI Outdoor makes this slim-fold camp kitchen that is very portable and relatively lightweight at 18.9 pounds.

A big heat-resistant aluminum countertop will hold a grill or camp stove weighing up to 48 pounds. There are four plastic side shelves that have accessory hooks, cup holders, and a paper towel holder.

Below the main cooking table, there is a wire shelf that can hold up to 35 pounds. It’s a great place for dishes, pans, and bags.

It’s a very compact camping table that can be set up and folded down in a couple of seconds. A carry handle makes transporting the table easy.

One of the great things about the GCI Outdoor table is how easy it is to clean. This table doesn’t have any parts that can be damaged by water like some of the other camping tables do. Spray it off with a hose, fold it down, and put it in the back of the truck.

Check out this article here to see the best camp stoves that pair perfectly with camp kitchen tables.

Something we realized early on about camping accessories that need a bag to hold all parts is that it takes more planning to pack in and out.

You also don’t want to put a wet table in a bag, so if you want to spray it off with a hose you have to let it dry before you can fold it down.

Whether this is a big deal to you or not depends on the way you travel. For us, a camping table that can be sprayed off and directly put in the truck bed is the best option.

Maybe you never feel the need to spray your table off with a hose, so what else is so good about the GCI Outdoor Slim-Fold Camp Kitchen?

It’s stable, has lots of shelves and accessory holders like hooks, cup holders, paper towel holders, and a good sized wire shelf.

Last but not least, it’s lightweight without sacrificing stability due to the design.

PROS

  • Accessory Hooks
  • Paper Towel Holder
  • Four Side Shelves
  • Large Wire Shelf
  • Large Aluminum Tabletop
  • Folds/Unfolds In Seconds
  • Easy To Clean

CONS

  • Weak Cloth Carry Handle

5. Coleman Pack-Away Deluxe Portable Camp Kitchen

Pack-Away Outdoor Kitchen Deluxe

Check Price at Amazon

This is the Deluxe version of the Coleman Pack-Away Portable Camp Kitchen that we talked about at the beginning of this review.

There are a couple of differences that we’ll go through, but a big one is that it weighs more than twice as much as the smaller model, at 36.5 pounds.

It also has a sink, a garbage bag holder, a big wire shelf, a camp stove table, two small spice shelves, five hooks, and a paper towel holder. It’s a more advanced camp kitchen station with more features than the non-deluxe version.

The sink takes up part of the counter space and does not have a drain in it. It’s more like a plastic tub you can take in or out. It’s big enough to get a couple of dishes done.

To empty the water in the tub you remove it and dump it. You could also use it as a food container you can store veggies in after you have chopped them up. It works great for sliced potatoes.

The food prep area measures 39.4 by 19.7 inches, has an easy to clean plastic tabletop, and has more than enough room to get your food ready.

Next to the food prep area is the grill/camp stove table which has more heavy-duty legs than the non-deluxe version. All legs on this kitchen station are more heavy-duty than on its little brother but it’s still made of aluminum.

The portable camp kitchen measures 74.5 by 64 by 20 inches when set up and 39.5 by 7 x 20 inches when closed. It folds down into a suitcase-style case with a handle on top for easy transport and storage.

There is also a tall lantern holder you can hang a light on to keep the kitchen lit up at night and early mornings, making the cooking table usable at all hours. It’s a small detail Coleman has added but I like it and it’s something my wife and I would use often.

So is the Coleman Pack-Away Deluxe Portable Camp Kitchen worth the upgrade from the smaller version?

I would say it’s mostly about whether you want to have a sink or not, you can just put a plastic tub on the smaller version and you’ll have a sink.

It is more sturdy but also heavier. If you’re often stationary and don’t care much about the weight, it can be a great choice and it’s a table that will last you a long time.

Take care of it and it will take care of you and your camp cooking needs.

PROS

  • Accessory Hooks
  • Paper Towel Holder
  • Large Wire Shelf
  • Sink
  • Lantern Holder
  • Garbage Bag Holder
  • Stove Table
  • Spice Racks
  • Very Sturdy

CONS

  • Heavy

6. Camp Chef Sherpa Camping Table

Camp Chef Sherpa Camp Table & Organizer, Table top 27' x 17', Table Height 28'

Check Price at Amazon

Camp Chef Makes the last outdoor kitchen camping table in today’s review. It’s called Sherpa. This is a portable camping table for organized people who don’t want to set up much and to always have their cooking gear and accessories in one place.

It’s basically a large storage box with an aluminum frame and cloth sides. To use as a table you roll out an aluminum tabletop and extend hidden aluminum legs.

There are four zippered storage bags made of cloth that sit on shelves in a large compartment underneath the tabletop.

When it’s time to take down camp, all you have to do is remove the aluminum roll up tabletop and retract the adjustable aluminum legs. The rest stays the way it is. It will take up more space than the other tables but requires very little setup when you arrive at your next campsite.

Each storage bag measures 12 by 11 by 6.5 inches. Camp Chef advertises that if you remove the two bottom storage bags, there is enough space to store a Camp Chef Ranger Blind Stove or the Mountain Series camp stoves.

Want some comfortable camping chairs to sit at your new camping table with? Check out the best ones here.

With legs collapsed, the table measures 16 by 27 x 18 inches. With legs extended, the table can be up to 28 inches high. The tabletop measures 27 by 17 inches.

To transfer the Sherpa table from your campsite to your car, truck, or RV, Camp Chef has put a handle on both sides. To stop the bags from falling out, a zippered lid closes up and keeps the bags in place.

What I like about the Camp Chef Sherpa Camping Table is how robust it feels. I would feel confident storing all my outdoor kitchen cooking gear in the different compartments. Thanks to the size of each bag you could even store frying pans and pots.

This is the camping table that will keep all your cooking stuff organized and it’s incredibly easy to pack up.

Would it be nice to have the ability to unfold the whole table so it becomes smaller? Sure, but a big feature of the Sherpa camping table is that you don’t have to, so in one way it only fits a certain kind of camper.

It’s a great table that I recommend, even though it’s not one that works well with our style of RV camping.

PROS

  • Sturdy
  • Four Storage Bags & Shelves
  • Fast Set Up
  • Roll Up Aluminum Table Top
  • Adjustable Height
  • Compact & Durable

CONS

  • Doesn’t Fold Flat
  • Requires Large Space To Store

Person using a folding camping table to cook with a gas camp stove.
Folding camping tables are perfect for preparing food and cooking outdoors.

Part 1: Conclusion & My Recommendations

The outdoor kitchen table/station that will fit you and your style of camping depends on how much cooking gear and accessories you have.

For full-time RVers like us, we do most of our cooking in the trailer but we grill outside as much as possible. A folding table with a grill or stove table works best for us.

If you’re a tent camper, you’ll want more storage compartments and would probably be okay with keeping your cooking accessories in a camping table with storage like the Camp Chef Sherpa Table.

Today my recommendations are based mostly on the features you get out of the cooking camping table and how portable it is.

Best Camp Kitchen – Coleman Pack-Away Deluxe Portable Camp Kitchen

The deluxe Coleman camp kitchen has the most shelves, accessories, and it has the most sturdy camp stove table that folds out from a plastic food prep table.

It’s heavy but completely portable and made with aluminum. The suitcase style creates a table and a wall that will protect from wind. It also has hooks and small shelves you can put stuff in.

If you want a folding camping table that can basically become an entire kitchen the Coleman Pack-Away Delux is one of the best options out there.

Largest Tabletop – Lifetime Folding Tailgate Camp Table with Grill Rack

The Lifetime tailgate table is the table my wife and I own. It’s the most versatile choice on today’s list that works both as a food prep area, cooking area, and a dining table. It doesn’t fold down to a compact size but it’s still pretty easy to store.

It’s sturdy and large enough to use as a dining table and extremely easy to clean. The metal stove table part can be used for a camp stove, grill, or be used to place hot dutch ovens on for serving. It’s a great camping table that’s always set up at our camp.

Best For Stove or Grill – GCI Outdoor Slim-Fold Camp Kitchen

The GCI Outdoor is our favorite outdoor cooking table in this review. It’s great for lots of reasons but it’s really perfect for placing a grill or camp stove on.

It also has the frills that we’ve seen on some other tables, like the hooks, paper towel holder, and wire shelf. The four side tables are perfect for putting food on and even though they stick out when set up they still fold down to a flat package.

The only downside is the cloth handle that doesn’t seem very durable. It’s something GCI Outdoor could easily fix and maybe they will someday.

Other than that, it’s one of the best grill/camp stove tables out there that will hold all your cooking gear and assist you in making wonderful camping meals.

1. PORTAL Aluminum Roll Up Camping Table

PORTAL Lightweight Aluminum Folding Square Table Roll Up Top 4 People Compact Table with Carry Bag for Camping, Picnic, Backyards, BBQ

Check Price at Amazon

Portal’s camping table is perfect to use as both a dining or a gear table when camping. It’s tall enough to scoot chairs under and it’s super easy to store, set up, and move around.

It’s a roll up camping table. That means the tabletop is made of aluminum slats that can unhook from the frame and be rolled up like a towel. It creates a very compact table that is stored in a bag not much bigger than what you put a standard camping chair in.

The roll up style tables are great for all kinds of campers, but they are especially useful to van, tent, car, and other campers who have very limited storage space.

The Portal has a steel frame that expands out when you’re setting it up. You then place two steel poles across the frame to secure it in an open position. You then take out the rolled up aluminum tabletop and unroll it on top of the table.

There are anchor holes on the bottom of each corner. These holes are secured to the two steel bars by being inserted into the ends. It’s easy to do and a very secure way to connect the table to the frame.

Want to have some real plates and cups while you’re camping but are afraid they won’t last? Check out the best unbreakable dinnerware sets here.

This is a medium sized camping table. The square top is 27.5 inches by 27.5 inches and the entire thing is 26.5 inches tall. The height is not adjustable.

There are two aluminum tabletop color options. A brown that is colored to look like wood and natural powdered aluminum silver. If you want to use a grill or camp stove on it I recommend getting the natural aluminum color.

The included bag has two compartments inside to protect the tabletop from getting scratched by the metal frame. It’s 28 inches long, 7.5 inches wide, and 2.2 inches thick when folded up and ready to store.

The entire table weighs only 9.4 lbs and can hold up to 60 lbs.

The PORTAL Aluminum Roll Up Camping Table is perfect for using as a dining table for a small family or to have around camp to place gear on. It can roll up to a small enough size to be stored in the trunk of a car or a small RV storage compartment.

It’s durable, lightweight, and super easy to set up. All of these things are what you want in a folding camping table.

PROS

  • Lightweight
  • Rolls Up To Small Size
  • Aluminum Tabletop
  • Quick Set Up
  • Multiple Color Options

CONS

  • Non-Adjustable Height
  • Small Feet

2. Coleman Outdoor Compact Camping Table

Coleman Outdoor Folding Table | Ultra Compact Aluminum Camping Table

Check Price at Amazon

Coleman makes this neat little folding table that can be used for lots of things around the campground including use as a picnic or dining table. Made out of steel and aluminum it’s a roll up table that will take a beating and last a long time.

The tabletop rolls out and sits on top of the steel frame. It all snaps together when set up correctly.

Measuring 27.6 by 27.6 by 27.6 it’s big enough to seat four people for dinner and with a weight capacity of 100 pounds, it’s sturdy enough to do so safely. It’s also strong enough and heat resistant so you can set a grill or camp stove on it.

Although the camping table feels pretty sturdy, I wish the feet would’ve been bigger as I think that would’ve made it feel even sturdier and secure on the ground.

Taking down the table is easy with its folding frame and roll up tabletop. The included carrying bag will keep it compact and secure during transport. Everything together weighs 9 pounds and when packed away it’s about the size of a standard camping chair.

I mostly like the Coleman Outdoor Compact Camping Table for its looks and roll up design. It’s advertised as being big enough to seat four people and while it can do that, it’s pushing it.

I see it more as a comfortable table for two, a gear table, or one that can be used next to your kitchen station.

Note the height is not adjustable, make sure you compare the height of the camping table to the height of your camping chairs to make sure they will fit.

PROS

  • Lightweight
  • Rolls Up To Small Size
  • Aluminum Tabletop
  • Quick Set Up

CONS

  • Non-Adjustable Height
  • Small Feet
  • Storage Bag Isn’t Compartmentalized

3. Outry Lightweight Folding Table with Cup Holders

Outry Lightweight Folding Table with Cup Holders, Portable Camp Table (L - Unfolded: 29.5' x 22' x 21')

Check Price at Amazon

The Outry foldable camping table is between a dining/gear table and a small lightweight backpacking table. It’s a square folding table that comes in two sizes, medium and large.

Both sizes have a heavy-duty ripstop 600D nylon fabric tabletop with a lightweight aluminum alloy frame. The most significant difference between the sizes is that the large version has four cup holders instead of two found on the medium version.

The large model is also larger, of course, measuring 29.5 by 22 by 21 inches when unfolded, while the medium measures 22 by 17 by 15 inches.

When folded down and put into the included carrying bag, the large model measures 30 by 3 inches and the medium 23.6 by 3 inches. Large weighs 2.6 pounds, versus medium’s 1.7 pounds.

Going to the beach? Check out the best portable lounge beach chairs here.

Bring it to the beach, or keep it at the campground. Either way, it’s effortless to transport since it’s so lightweight.

Just like we saw with the Coleman Outdoor Compact Camping Table, the frame design can make it hard to use as a dining table and the cup holders limit the tabletop space.

The Outry Lightweight Folding Table with Cup Holders is the most lightweight folding camping table in the dining/gear table section.

It can be carried and set up by anybody, which makes it great for when you’re taking the kids to the beach, or need a table outside your RV for drinks and smaller items.

It’s a little big to be considered a small side camping table but a little small to be a full on dining table. If you’re looking to save on space and weight you can get a little bit of both worlds with the Outry folding camping table.

PROS

  • Two Sizes
  • Cup Holders
  • Extremely Lightweight
  • Roll Up To Small Size

CONS

  • Lightweight Makes It Easy To Tip Over
  • Best For Just Two People If Used For Dining

In the outdoor kitchen camping table section, we looked at the Lifetime Folding Tailgate Table with Grill Rack that my wife and I own and use regularly. We also have this lifetime folding camping table that we use as a dining table and even a desk on warm sunny days.

You won’t find any frills like a paper towel holder, cup holders, or grill rack. Instead, you’re getting a folding plastic table with adjustable height, which makes it a great dining and utility table.

It measures 48 x 24 inches when set up, and has three heights to choose from. 24 inches, 29 inches, and 36 inches. When it’s time to leave, the legs fold in, the tabletop folds in half, and a cloth handle makes it easy to transport and put it in storage.

With a rust-resistant powder-coated steel frame and a UV-protected polyethylene plastic tabletop, it’s a very durable choice that can handle any weather.

It feels very sturdy and with a weight capacity rating of 800 pounds, Lifetime guarantees that it will handle everything you put on it without sacrificing stability.

What my wife and I love about the and other Lifetime tables like it, is how easy it is to clean. We spray ours off with a hose when it’s filthy after a camping trip and it handles water so well that we feel confident it will last for years to come.

We also like the adjustable height, as it’s a very uncommon feature with camping tables. It’s impressive that it can hold so much weight even though the legs are adjustable. The legs are also on the side and out of the way. You can seat 4 people up to it comfortably without their legs hitting the frame.

But with the solid plastic tabletop that can only fold once comes a con compared to the other folding camping tables, since it can’t be folded down and put in a carrying bag. This means that it’s harder to store and bulkier to transport.

It’s also heavy weighing 19 lbs.

What you need to consider is if you’re going to have enough space to store this camping table, or if a lightweight table that folds or rolls up and goes into a bag will be a better choice.

PROS

  • Durable
  • Stable
  • 800 lbs Weight Capacity
  • Foldable
  • Adjustable Height
  • Easy To Clean
  • Comfortable For 4 People To Dine At
  • Great For Gear & Crafts

CONS

  • Bulky To Store
  • Heavy

5. ALPS Mountaineering Dining Camping Table

ALPS Mountaineering Dining Table Regular, Silver (8351000)

Check Price at Amazon

ALPS Mountaineering is a popular company that makes high-quality camping gear. Tents, camping furniture, sleeping bags, camping accessories, and tables are what they’re most known for. Their roll up camping tables are robust, lightweight, and easy to store.

This dining table comes in three different sizes, square, regular, and X-Large. We’re looking at the X-large version since it’s the best to use as a dining camping table.

It measures 28 by 43 by 28 inches when set up and weighs 12 pounds. When rolled down and stored in the included carrying bag, it measures 42 by 8 by 5 inches.

There is no listed weight capacity listed by Alps Mountaineering but people have been able to put camp stoves on them without any issue.

Folding camping tables are great for dining, gear, and also using as a morning coffee station. Check out the best non-electric coffee makers for all kinds of campers here.

It’s set up by unfolding the legs and rolling out the aluminum tabletop. The top locks in place with a bungee cord. The legs have an X frame design and are excellent for dining. If you’re sitting on the long side you won’t have any issues with knees hitting the frame. It does stop people from sitting on the short side though.

I was impressed with how sturdy the Alps Mountaineering table was for being so lightweight. One negative is the bungee cord that locks the tabletop. I would’ve liked to see a more durable solution but it’s not a big issue.

All in all, the ALPS Mountaineering Dining Camping Table is a high-quality choice that is a great dining table for the campground. It’s incredible how easy it is to store for how big the table is when unfolded.

PROS

  • Multiple Size Options
  • Stable
  • Lightweight
  • Aluminum Frame
  • Aluminum Roll Up Tabletop
  • Frame Is Out Of The Way (Won’t Hit Knees)
  • Rolls Up To Small Size

CONS

  • No Listed Weight Limit
  • Uses Bungee Cord To Secure Tabletop

KingCamp Folding Camping Table Aluminum Roll Up Top Weatherproof and Rust Resistant Protable Compact Table for Outdoor Camp Picnic Backyard Cookout Travel

Check Price at Amazon

The last dining/gear camping table in this review is from a company called KingCamp. They make this very neat and functional folding camping table that can seat up to six people.

How is it done? It uses heavy-duty free-standing legs that allows you to seat people all around the table without the frame getting in the way.

The frame is made out of steel, and the tabletop is a roll up aluminum alloy with a fine grind finish and anode oxidation treatment. It’s a scratch and rust-resistant material, so it’s perfect for the outdoors.

It can hold up to 176 pounds and feels incredibly stable due to its big legs and reinforced frame.

A spring buckle secures the tabletop in place after it has been rolled onto the frame. When it’s time to pack down, the whole table fits in the included storage bag.

The table measures 42 by 28 by 28 when set up, and 43 by 9 by 4 when collapsed. In total, it weighs 15 pounds, for its size, it’s extremely portable and easy to store.

I like the KingCamp Camp Table for its stability and high-quality feel. It’s the roll up camping table we plan on purchasing in the future after looking at each and comparing them.

It’s big enough to be used as a dining table for a family as long as you don’t have huge chairs, or as a heavy duty gear table. I only wish is that there were a few more sizes to choose from.

PROS

  • Stable
  • Can Seat Up To 6
  • Steel Frame
  • Roll Up Aluminum Tabletop
  • Frame Won’t Hit Knees
  • Rolls Up To Small Size
  • Most Heavy Duty Legs In Review

CONS

  • Only One Size Option
  • Hard To Get Back Into Included Bag

Part 2: Conclusion & My Recommendations

What gear or dining table is the best for you mostly depends on how many are in your group, and whether you mostly need a place to put things or to eat at.

We’ve looked at lots of folding camping tables that can be both, and based on what we like and our uses, here are our recommendations.

Best Medium Size – 1. PORTAL Aluminum Roll Up Camping Table

Sometimes all you need is the perfect size of camping table for two and the Portal is just that. It’s big enough to be a comfortable dining table and small enough to roll down to a very portable and packable size.

It’s perfect for any kind of camper especially the ones that have limited storage space. It’s also great to use as a gear table and you can even put a grill or camp stove on it.

The aluminum roll up tabletop secures to the frame with a durable loop and pin design and it’s quick and easy to set up. All-in-all it’s one of the best medium sized dining/gear camping tables out there.

Most Heavy Duty –

No matter what campground you go to, I bet you’ll see a Lifetime table. They’re the most classic folding table for camping purposes, and for good reason.

They’re very durable, easy to set up, while very competitive in their pricing. The Lifetime camping table is a great dining and gear table with adjustable legs and a design that has proven itself over and over to be a heavy duty camping table.

Best Overall – KingCamp Roll Up Camp Table

The KingCamp roll up camp table is the most sturdy, functional, and portable camping table we have ever seen. I’m impressed by the sturdy legs, the frame, and the roll up aluminum tabletop. It also has a high weight capacity so you can set a grill or camp stove on it without worry.

You would expect it to weigh much more than 15 pounds. It’s a reliable choice that won’t disappoint and we feel confident recommending the KingCamp roll up camp table for serious campers.

Some camping tables fold up to a small size but they are mostly made for RVers. Other kinds roll up to a very compact size and they are made with lightweight materials.

These kinds of camping tables are perfect for hikers, backpackers, and people who like to brink a table to the beach or on picnics that require a bit of walking.

The Sportneer is a very lightweight aluminum roll up table that can pack down to a very compact and portable size.

There are 3 size options available that range from the mini side table that can hold a few drinks to the larger ones that can be used as a dining table for two in a pinch.

The large size is the most versatile and still very lightweight and compact so that’s the one I’m going to review.

The weight capacity of the large Sportneer table is 55 lbs which is a lot for this style. It measures 16 inches tall with a roll up tabletop that’s 16 by 26.77 inches when set up.

It’s not camping without a campfire. Check out the best camping axes and hatchets here to help you get some firewood.

The iClimb is another lightweight choice that can roll up and fold down to a very portable size.

There are two tabletop color options: black and white. There are also two size options: small and large. In this review I am going to focus on the small size.

The small version of the iClimb camping table is 11.4 inches tall with a roll up aluminum tabletop that’s 13.38 by 16 inches. It weighs only 2.3 lbs and has a weight capacity of 66 lbs.

When put away in the included storage bag it’s 17 inches long and around 6 inches wide.

Both the frame and the tabletop is made with aluminum and the white version is painted to look like it’s made of real wood.

The iClimb Compact Folding Camping Table is a lot like the other tables on this list. It’s short but has a lot of space for putting food or gear on. It’s fast to set up and has a fairly high weight capacity for its size.

All-in-all it’s a decent side table you can take anywhere that’s made of durable aluminum that can withstand weather and years of being used.

Part 3: Conclusions & My Recommendations

Even though most camping chairs have cup holders it can be nice to have a small table to put stuff on.

There are two main kinds of side tables on this list. Those that fold in half and are better for RVer and those that can collapse down to a very compact size and are perfect for campers with limited space or backpackers.

No matter what kind is right for you all of these tables will add a little more comfort to any campsite without taking up a lot of storage space.

Here are my recommendations:

Best For RVers – Camco Adirondack Outdoor Folding Side Table

This style of table is the most popular for RVers since they are perfect for holding small items like drinks, snacks, or books. The Camco Adirondack is lightweight, super durable, and a great choice.

Not only is this type perfect for having next to camping chairs they are also extremely easy to set up and take down. Just pull it out of storage and pop it open. It’s a fast way to get your camping gear and drinks off the ground.

Most Portable – Trekology Aluminum Camping Side Table

The collapsible tables are perfect for taking absolutely everywhere. The smaller sizes can be transported in a backpack and they weigh hardly anything.

The only slight downside that makes this style less popular with RVers is they take a little bit more time to set up than the more simple models.

Trekology makes the highest quality aluminum side tables. It comes in three sizes to fit any need and the large size can even be used as a small dining table for two.

They are versatile, durable, and great for setting on uneven ground because of the wide leg base.

Most Adjustable – GCI Compact Camp Folding Table

The GCI compact folding camp table is the only one on the list that has adjustable legs. It uses a squeeze to release technology to make it easy to extend or retract the telescopic legs. The GCI can be a short side table for chairs or a taller dining table for one.

The adjustable legs are very useful and it may be a better multi-use product for full-time RVers and campers who don’t have a lot of storage space.

What To Look For In A Folding Camping Table

If you’re shopping for a folding camping table, you might already know what you need. Usually, all it takes is one camping trip and you realize what you’re missing and what you could use to make it more convenient.

If you don’t know what you’re looking for, let me help you with a couple of things to consider.

Cooking/Dining/Gear Table – What will be the primary purpose of the table? To hold a grill, hold your magazines on the beach, or to eat dinner on?

Think about whether you want to be able to put your legs under it and how many people need to be able to sit by it. Buying a big one when you mostly need one for the beach would be unnecessary.

Portability – Do you go tent camping or RV camping? How tight will you have it with storage, and how much do you have to move it? The more you have to move it, the more the weight will matter.

If you go RV camping, not all tables will fit in the storage and you might want one that collapses and goes in a bag.

If you park your car and have to walk a mile to the beach, you’ll want one that is stored in a bag, maybe a smaller one with cup holders.

If you want a dining table to put outside your RV, get a sturdy one instead of a lightweight one. You’re going to appreciate the sturdiness that can handle some wind and bumps.

Durability – How many days a year do you plan on using it? Do you want to leave it out at night?

I don’t recommend leaving a cloth table out overnight and would recommend plastic or aluminum if you’re going to go camping for a week and leave it out 24/7. The Lifetime tables are extremely durable while not as portable as some other options.

Frequently Asked Questions About Folding Camping Tables

How to tie down a table while camping

Many folding camping tabes are lightweight which is great for transport purposes but it also means they can easily get blown over by the wind.

The best way to tie it down is to use good old fashioned rope and stakes or even just large heavy rocks.

Make sure you secure the rope to a part of the frame that won’t be damaged from the pressure of the ropes. Also, make sure the ropes are out of the way so they won’t trip any unsuspecting campers walking by.

How to store a camping table when not in use?

Storage is one of the biggest issues for most campers no matter what they camp in.

Some can be rolled up to a small size no bigger than a folded camping chair or there are larger plastic camping tables that only fold in half and take up a lot of space.

The aluminum roll up camping tables become so small they can normally be stored in the trunk of a car or in the outside storage compartment or an RV or travel trailer. If you are limited on space this is going to be the easiest style of folding camping table to store.

The larger plastic tables like the kind made by Lifetime take up a lot more space even when folded up. The main upside for this style of camping table is they are very sturdy when set up.

We have two kinds of Lifetime camping tables, the Lifetime Folding Tailgate Camp Table with Grill Rack (click to view on Amazon) and the .

Both of these folding camping tables are hard to store. Luckily we have a truck to pull our travel trailer. The camp table with the grill rack fits in the truck bed and we have the height adjustable one stored in the back seat of the cab.

Wherever you store your folding camping tables make sure you can get to them easily as they are one of the first things you are going to be setting up at the campsite.

How big of a screen house do I need for a camping picnic table?

Most picnic tables are 6 feet in length and around 5 feet in total width including the benches. You are going to want a screen house that is at least a couple of feet longer and wider than the picnic table to make moving around comfortable and possible.

Most of the pop up camping shelters in this article (click to view) can easily fit a picnic table and then some.

What is the best camping table flashlight or lantern?

A good camping table flashlight or lantern needs to be able to cast a lot of light without shining directly into the eyes of the campers sitting nearby.

Propane lanterns like the Coleman Northstar (click to view on Amazon) have been a common sight in campgrounds for years but they require having small 1lb propane tanks on hand and you have to change out certain parts every year. They are also a fire hazard and need to be monitored at all times when in use.

LED table flashlights and lanterns have come a long way over the years and they are becoming the more popular choice among campers. They are safer, easier to maintain, and less expensive than the propane ones.

When choosing a lantern specifically to place on a table make sure you get one that casts the light downwards. Many are made to be hung up and when placed on tables they can be uncomfortable for your eyes.

Some of the best camping table flashlights/lanterns include the Light It! By Fulcrum, Coleman LED Lantern, and the Blazin Fireball LED Lantern.

What is the width of a standard 8 foot camping table?

Usually, 8 foot camping tables are around 24-30 inches in width.

How wide is a standard table in a camp trailer?

Most camp trailer tables whether they are booth style or have regular chairs are around 28-30 inches wide to comfortably seat around 4 people.
